Late in the NFL/Fantasy season, weird things can
happen....especially with RBs. You can go your
entire season with one set of RBs, then suddenly
in the Fantasy playoffs you are relying upon
formerly shunned most all regular season RBs
like Jonathan Stewart, Toby Gerhart, Ryan
Torain, etc.
Usually each Fantasy playoff week, a new "hot"
previously shunned RB emerges as a possible late
add to en hance your squad. However, this
season/week it seems like all the RBs who should
be taken...are taken.
Our computer system is showing one RB set up for
a potential big Week-16, that is only (approx)
40% owned in leagues, that most Fantasy GMs
still alive would skim over the available RB
list and possibly blow right past this RB. That
RB is Marshawn Lynch.
First and foremost, the trend starts with who
Lynch is facing -- Tampa Bay. Tampa has faced 13
RBs this season who have had 10+ carries in the
game. Those RBs have averaged 15.1 (trad.
scoring) FF PPG on 5.4 yards per carry. ...one
of the worst defenses in the 10+ carry metric.
Of the 13 RBs with 10+ carries, 9 of them have
had over 100+ yards rushing+receiving. Five of
those 13 RBs had 140+ yards or more.
It's not getting any better either. Last week
(Week-15) Maurice Morris had 109 yards rushing,
and Week-14 Ryan Torain had 174. The last 2
games, non-elite RBs have steamrolled them.
Then there is Lynch's latest performance trend.
Most of Lynch's Seahawks time has been
awful...mainly due to a lack of blocking. As the
Seahawks line has gotten a little more healthy,
Lynch has started to improve his stats. In his
last 3 games, Lynch has 16.1 (trad. scoring) FF
PPG. In that span Lynch has averaged 81.0 yards
per game and 1.0 TDs per game.
The Seahawks need this game (as does TB). The
game plan to defeat TB has been to run it down
their throat. The Seahawks main WRs are back
from injury to loosen the offense up a little
better. Lynch could see 17-20+ carries in this
game and at least 1 TD.
