Not going to bore you with the obvious, but
rather try to address players others may not be
thinking as heavily about. In no particular
order:
Doug Baldwin, Seattle WR =
Folks are all excited about rookies Julio
Jones and A.J. Green, but UDFA WR
Doug Baldwin has 3 of 5 games in 2011 with
80+ yards, and has scored 2 TDs (2 more than
Julio Jones has). In the last two weeks, Baldwin
is averaging 6.5 receptions and 110.0 yards per
game on 7.5 targets per. We are lukewarm on
Baldwin with Tavaris Jackson, and much
higher on him with Charlie Whitehurst.
Baldwin has some tremendous physical
measurements/skills from his Pro-Day workouts,
and has looked brilliant on tape. Paired with a
better QB, he might be the best-performing
rookie of all the 2011 rookies to date...he
almost is the best rookie WR performer as it is
with a terrible QB/Offense.
Tim Tebow, Denver QB = Where I
have a Kevin Kolb or Andy Dalton
type QB-2, I'll take a shot on Tebow as a QB-2.
I don't like Tebow as my NFL QB, nor do we favor
any running QB for NFL purposes...but this is
Fantasy Football. I've learned to love Cam
Newton suddenly, and have used Michael
Vick and Vince Young in the past.
I'll take a shot that Tebow will continue to run
his way to Fantasy Football usefulness. Tebow
has a bigger ceiling than most of the generic
QB-2's out there.
Jake Ballard, Giants TE = Two
TDs in his last two games, with 1.5 red-zone
targets per game in that span. Ballard has some
Scott Chandler-esque vibes, low-talent
but "situation" valuable. His targets and
yardage totals have been picking up. If you are
TE desperate, Ballard might have temporary use.
We are not high on him long-term, but he might
get you through a week or two.
Damian Williams, Titans WR =
Our 2nd highest rated "small-WR" in 2010, now
emerging with the Kenny Britt injury. We
see Williams as more of a PPR upside WR with
4-6+ catches per game, but not a high-TD
producer. However, Williams has 2 TDs in the
past two games. Last week, Williams had 11
targets and 6 catches against the Steelers. You
may want to jump on him on the BYE week, before
anyone else wakes up to him. He might be the
Titans most talented WR going forward, not
Nate Washington...but he still is an
inexperienced WR, so caution.
Jackie Battle, Chiefs RB = We
called the possibility of this a few weeks back,
and now it's here. Still is a tricky play as
Todd Haley is unpredictable on RB usage. We
think Battle has the talent (and showed it
Week-5), but are nervous about the Haley/Thomas
Jones factor of splitting time. Battle was
so much more dominant (I say that loosely) than
the other Chiefs RBs, you would think it clear
that he would be the clear starter in Week-7,
but we'll see. For more Battle info see our
deeper research =

Likely See Anywhere Else... - Fantasy Football
2011
Bernard Scott, Bengals RB =
Scott is not on this list because he scored a TD
this past week. Scott is on here because if/when
Cedric Benson gets a 2-3 game suspension,
then Scott is in line for a 15-20+ carry per
game workload. We have been high on Scott for
years, as our computer scouting models have
loved Scott back to his college days. A Benson
suspension instantly makes Scott a must have RB,
and top-20 projected Fantasy Football scoring
RB. Nabbing him now, will get you in ahead of
the crowd.
Alex Smith, 49ers QB = 5 TDs
and zero INTs in his last two games, posting a
stout 18.2 FF PPG (4 pts per pass TD) scoring
pace. Scrambling for a QB to fill in on a BYE,
don't write off Smith from consideration. Smith
now has 7 TDs and 1 INT on the season, with a
65.9% Comp Pct.
Ed Dickson, Ravens TE =
Dickson's targets going from Week-1 to
Week-4...5, 6, 9, 12. Dickson has emerged as the
top target for Joe Flacco. The schedule
starts to loosen up a bit with HOU-JAC-ARI
upcoming. If you have TE need, or are looking to
add TE depth with a long-term upside...Dickson
is your man.
